Library CLOSED August 2nd

The library will be closed on Wednesday, August 2 due to system maintenance. On that date, we will also be taking the exciting step of combining our genre sections in the regular fiction area to create a more cohesive, easier-to-browse collection.
Currently LPL’s fiction is divided into four categories: General, Mystery, Science Fiction, and Western. Given that many authors today are writing across genres, their bodies of work are being divided into different areas of the library, making it more difficult for patrons to find their favorite authors’ books. We have made the decision, after much feedback from the community and the wider library world, to combine these sections of our collection. All fiction will now be set-up alphabetical by the author’s last name, which will allow for patrons to find favorite authors as well as new books and authors to love, ones that might have been missed under the current layout.
Large Print and New materials will still maintain their own areas although Large Print will be moving towards the entrance onto lower shelving to make it more accessible.
As always, staff will be happy to help patrons find items and learn the lay of the land to make this transition as seamless as possible. Check in with the Lending Services desk on the first floor for more information.
