November is National Novel Writing Month

National Novel Writing Month logoDo you want to write a book someday?  Are you waiting for an auspicious time?  The time is November!

Join us for a Q&A on National Novel Writing Month with tips on drafting 50,000 words in 30 days.
The kick-off session on November 1st will be followed by Write-Ins at the library on the following days:

Write-Ins are gatherings of NaNoWriMo participants to discuss the craft and challenge each other to writing sprints.  Refreshments and prizes will be provided, with an awesome door prize for each session, free of cost. Write-ins let you come together with others to talk about the craft and bounce ideas, or huddle in a corner and just write!
For more information, sign up for free at nanowrimo.org and home yourself to the Lewiston-Auburn region.

This year, youth are invited to participate in NaNoWriMo as well through the Young Writers Program!

Join kids and teens all around the world in tackling the fun, frightening, and totally unforgettable challenge of bashing out an entire novel – or short story, or poetry collection, or whatever – in one month.

  • Sign up as a young writer on ywp.nanowrimo.org and enter the code AIIWXIHW to join the LPL Teens classroom
  • Create a goal, track your writing, and race the clock to complete your story in one month!
  • Join us on Wednesday, November 20th (*rescheduled from Nov 13th*) from 3-5pm in the IDEA Lab for a special Teen Write-In where we will brainstorm, share ideas, participate in writing prompts and word sprints, and work on our stories together.
  • At the end of the month, come to the Young Writers Program Finale Party on Saturday, November 30th from 10:30am-12:30pm in the Teen Room for snacks, story sharing, prizes, and the option of submitting your work to be included in our LPL Youth Writers Project 2019 zine!
